Controller Circuit Interface Between Personal Computers and Electro- Mechanical Measuring and Control Devices

A technique is described whereby a single controller circuit provides an interface between personal computers (PCs) and electro-mechanical measuring and control devices, so as to provide software-controlled programming to actuate discrete measuring devices. Described is the controller circuit and software which enables device actuation to be variable, as may be required for specific applications. The circuit is designed to function in conjunction with the digital input and digital output ports of the PC. An Intel* C-8751H, or equivalent, controller circuit, as shown in Fig. 1, is used in conjunction with algorithms, programmed in the PC, to implement the measurement parameters and to change them as required.
