Abstract

Figs. 1-4 illustrate the addition of a base strip to the leaded SIP card, providing a means of maintaining true position of leads, details necessary for tube packaging and snap-in feature to eliminate the need for clinching leads. (Image Omitted) A molded plastic base strip shown in Fig. 2 is added to an existing leaded feature SIP card which addresses several manufacturing assembly and process concerns. (A) Lead Positioner: Leads are inserted into base strip (1) through countersink holes which provide initial lead-in for ease of insertion (2), and then tight for precise location (3). Overall, this maintains lead position for assembly insertion on the printed circuit board (PCB).
