The present system provides a unique combination of safety features to protect workers assembling print heads. Print heads are assembled utilizing work "cells", each cell performing its own unique task and each having multiple workstations equipped with different types of hard tools and/or robots. In order to protect operators, maintenance technicians and other personnel from moving machinery and other hazardous conditions within the cells, multiple safety features have been incorporated into the work cell and workstations. The safety features of the system include emergency power off switches, workstation power off switches, light barriers, LEXAN* shields, safety mats, a power on audible warning alarm, indicator lights and warning signs.
