The reliability of any tested software can be estimated by the Automatic Software Reliability Estimation System which is composed of testing equipment and the estimation program for software reliability, as shown in Fig. 1. The testing equipment executes the planed test and stores the resultant data, which includes the run test time and the number of errors, on the hard disk. The estimation program for software reliability is based on a Dual Software Reliability Growth Model (DSRGM) on a Non-Homogeneous Poisson Process (NHPP) model. This program automatically estimates reliability by using the resultant data on the hard disk. DSRGM is able to apply a more accurate calculation compared with conventional models. Fig. 2 shows the error growth curves of detected software errors.
