Abstract

A document reproduction facility, for example, a duplicating room, is provided with a number of individual reproduction devices (i.e., copiers and/or printers). A personal computer (PC) is connected to each of the reproduction devices. This PC monitors device usage, service, toner/paper consumption/inventory, etc., for each device. The PC aids and/or directs the operator in the selection of the most appropriate device to accomplish each reproduction job. In accomplishing this latter function, the PC also automatically sets up, or initializes, the reproduction device so that it is ready to run the job upon arrival of the operator at the location of the reproduction device. The copier devices are each provided with an automatic document handler.
