Print Hammer Protection and Vibration Reduction on Dot Band Printer

This invention provides for the elimination of print hammer decapitation and chevron vibration utilizing a polyurethane film or strip over one or both sides of the print band of a dot band printer. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a print band of a band-type dot matrix printer and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line Z-Z in Fig. 1 of the same band. An endless moving print band 10 has a series of anvils 15 spaced along its length and between a series of chevrons 20. When the anvil 15 is in an appropriate position, a hammer 25 strikes the anvil on its back surface 15A to impact an inked ribbon 40 against the paper 50.
