Abstract

This invention relates to a method that utilizes a paper sensor on a printer in combination with a sheet feeder to enhance feeding, forms handling and manual insertion. The operation of a cut sheet feeder, as used on low-end printers, comprises a reset sequence, a sheet selection sequence, and an eject sequence. The reset sequence resets the sheet selection sequence, the sheet selection sequence selects a sheet from the appropriate cut sheet feeder input bin, and the eject sequence clears the printed sheet from the printer to the cut sheet feeder output bin. (Image Omitted) Referring to Fig. 1, upon initialization, the reset sequence is invoked to clear the printer path and to reset the sheet select sequence. The sheet selection sequence feeds a sheet into the printer only when a print command is present.
