The Structured Query Language (SQL) developed for use with relational database systems is used to describe database operations to the IBM Database Manager. Predicate testing is an integral part of database operations and is used to determine which rows of a given table satisfy the criterion specified by the user of the database. (Image Omitted) One such predicate is the comparison of a data value with a column of table values to determine if any value in the table is the same as the value being compared. A related function is the test of a data value with a column of table values to determine if all values of the table are the same as the data value being compared. Because these functions are similar in logic flow, they are combined as a single operation.
