Dual Voltage Regulator

A dual output regulator circuit has been proposed with current limiting and under voltage shutdown features. It may be used to address overcurrent failure on programmable read-only memory cards installed in distributed sensor subsystems. Its output current is limited to a maximum value, and as the output voltage falls below a reference value, the output is switched off by a voltage sensing transistor. The output voltage and shutdown reference voltage are dynamically controlled between two different values, respectively. Previous circuitry dissipates maximum power in a current limiting situation which implies selecting output transistors and heat sinking techniques to satisfy failure operation [*]. The proposed circuitry (see the figure) avoids the problem by shutting down in a failing situation.
