Abstract

Fig. 1A illustrates a cutaway partial section of a receipt cutting device utilizing two shear blades 1A, 1B. Blades 1A, 1B are driven into the paper 2 by the retraction of the linear actuator 3 to pierce the paper 2 in its center and shear it across its complete width. This action is illustrated in Fig. 1B. Spring arms 4A, 4B retain the blades 1A, 1B together at their point 5. Cam 6 is positioned to act merely as a guide and bearing surface. (Image Omitted) Fig. 2A illustrates the repositioning of cam 6 and the cam followers 7 on the edges of blades 1A, 1B. When the linear actuator 3 is retracted as in Fig. 2B, cam 6 separates the blades by an amount dependent upon the position of the cam. Blades 1A, 1B to flex and hold the cam follower blade edges 7 against cam 6.
