This article describes the hardware and the associated microcode architecture which gives the full CUSTOMIZATION capability of all attached CONSOLES to a service processor which is also named MOSS (Maintenance Operator SubSystem). The customization is under customer control and can be modified at any time to comply with new requirements, such as migration from Start/Stop to BSC or Public Switched Network improvements offering a higher data rate. The telecommunication world is moving fast today; many new facilities are provided to customers every year giving better data rates on switched lines, new services from a common carrier, such as packet switching, satellite transmission, etc.
