Abstract

Large computer processors are supplied with a maintenance system which includes a field replacement unit (FRU) table unique to the system configuration and a test program dependent upon the particular FRU table. A FRU table is changed for a particular processor because of engineering change (EC) orders or because a customer has upgraded the processor. This invention is a simulator to test customized updated FRU tables for processors to make sure they are correct. This avoids actually having to test the updated FRU table on the particular machine to find errors. The customization process and field replacement unit (FRU) simulator is used for: FRU Table Update Code This code is used to translate and install customized FRU tables for large systems.
