Parallel opposing latches reliably retain front and back covers on a circuit card during lateral impact forces and can be quickly engaged or disengaged with a fixture that operates all latches concurrently. Referring to Figs. 1A, 1B and 1C, circuit card 1 is held between back cover 2 and front cover 3 along opposite sides by a plurality of resilient, bifurcated latches 4. Each latch 4 is integral with back cover 2 on opposite sides and, when locking the two covers together, passes through cutout 5 in card 1 and engages opposite ends of opening 6 in front cover 3. Unlatching is accomplished by passing ends 7 of U-shaped decoupler 8 upwardly through slots 9 on either side of latch 4 to retract the pairs of latch ends 4A, 4B from the front cover to permit removal. Decoupler 8 is thereafter withdrawn.
