Abstract

A method to measure the strength of document glass used in copiers is described. This method provides reliable strength measurement, using a minimum number of samples of document glass parts. The method consists of utilizing a horizontally placed, flat three-quarter-inch thick steel plate 10, having three concave half spheres 11 machined into the plate. These half spheres locate three three-quarter-inch diameter steel balls 12. The steel balls are arranged in the shape of an equilateral triangle that is 5.7 inches on each side. Fig. 1 is a side view; Fig. 2 is a top view. (Image Omitted) In use, plate 10 is attached to the base of a tensile/compressive testing machine which has a fourth ball 13 attached to a load cell and a cross-head.
