Improved platen life and band position result from applying a lubricant to the inner band surface and continually scraping the surface of the drive pulley of a printer having a print band. Fig. 1 schematically illustrates a print band and its drive pulley having a combined band lubricator and pulley scraper on a common base that are shown in greater detail in Fig. 2. In the figures, print band 1 is driven in the direction of the arrow by pulley 2 and moves across the face of platen 3. The band is lubricated by urging a solid block 4 of polytetrafluoroethylene into contact with the moving band. Block 4 is inserted in arm 5 that is pivotally mounted on pin 6 in the base. Torsion spring 7 urges arm 5 and block 4 counterclockwise on pivot 6 toward the band.
