Enlarged Combined Logic Cages for Logic Cards and Other Components

Described herein are assemblies for combining logic cages to enlarge their capacity to mount logic cards or other devices and configurations of various typical computing systems that can be designed using this concept. (Image Omitted) Referring to Fig. 1, a logic cage consisting of top and bottom halves 1 with side plates 3 is equipped with a backplane assembly 2 consisting of a logic card with a multiplicity of connectors (used to plug and interconnect electronic logic cards or other devices that are inserted into the cage) and a series of stiffening members (not shown). Fig. 2 shows that these logic cages can be assembled such that their backplanes may be electrically connected or "daisy-chained" with suitable short cables 4 or crossover connectors, one of which is indicated in the figure.
