A method for improving the performance of buffers mapped to a display screen, such as text or graphic buffers, where hardware mapping is not used. Hardware mapping is often expensive and inflexible. With hardware mapping it may not be possible to select fonts, text spacing, or text size. However, software mapping (or emulation of hardware mapping) often has performance problems.
