A design for a hammer face 1 for a slider assembly 2 is shown in the Figure. The hammer face is molded of any of a number of commercially available, lightweight polymers based on polyimide resins such as the polymer sold under the trademark Vespel. By molding the hammer face out of lightweight durable plastic material instead of metal, the performance of the hammer face and the slider assembly is improved due to the reduction in mass and the durability of plastic. Also plastic hammer faces are quieter than metal ones.
