Abstract

The application of tin to metallized ceramic (MC) parts requires the use of solder flux which occasionally remains on the part after tinning, often in a burned or polymerized state. This flux is generally removed by re-tinning of the part. The use of an excimer laser to remove the polymerized flux eliminates the re-tinning. The method is as follows.
