Adjustment for Print Band Drive Pulley
An adjustable bearing collar for a print band drive pulley can compensate for
lack of perpendicularity, excess clearance, component irregularities and
deflections produced by stress.
Referring to the figures, print band 1 extends between drive pulley 2 and an
idler pulley, not shown. The drive pulley is fixed on shaft 3 that rotates in
bearings 4 and 5 to move the band. Bearing 4 is supported in frame 6 and
bearing 5 is seated in collar 7 on flange 8. The collar is secured to frame 6 by
studs, not shown, threaded into the frame through three holes in the collar.
Adjustment of shaft 3 to the left or right changes the riding position of the
print band on pulley 2. Position adjustment is accomplished by loosening the
studs and inserting the end of an eccentric tool in frame hole 10 and rotating the
eccentric in elongated hole 11 to move the collar in the direction and by the
amount desired. Collar hole configurations are shown in Fig. 2. The position of
bearing 5 is thus moved to alter the perpendicularity of shaft 2 and band position.
