This search box also supports the look-up of an IP.com Digital Signature (also referred to as Fingerprint); enter the 72-, 48-, or 32-character code to retrieve details of the associated file or submission.
Concept Search - What can I type?
For a concept search, you can enter phrases, sentences, or full paragraphs in English. For example, copy and paste the abstract of a patent application or paragraphs from an article.
Concept search eliminates the need for complex Boolean syntax to inform retrieval. Our Semantic Gist engine uses advanced cognitive semantic analysis to extract the meaning of data. This reduces the chances of missing valuable information, that may result from traditional keyword searching.

Form Profile/Height Gauge
This device measures heights from a reference by means of an adjustable
counterbalanced arm which senses height changes by varying light propagation
to a photoresistor.
As shown in the Figure, the height gauge device comprises a single piece
low mass counterbalanced arm 10 rotatably mounted to a housing 12 by pivot
means 15. Cooperating with the pivot means is an opaque shield 20 which is
located between a photoresistor 30 encased by the housing 12 and an external
light source 40.
In operation when the counterbalanced arm 10 pivots and changes position,
the shield 20 will also move. This movement allows either more or less light to
reach the photoresistor.
The photoresistor is incorporated in a negative feedback loop of a high gain
amplifier circuit. As the resistance of the photoresistor changes with the incident
light controlled by shade 20, a proportional circuit output voltage occurs indicative
of a height change. This instrument can be calibrated in any convenient unit.
