Abstract

A wire matrix printhead has its wires oriented at 45o to the directions of motion of both a printhead carrier and a sheet of paper on which printing occurs. There also are additional wires used adjacent to some of the wires to form a cluster to increase the width of any dot to at least twice the width of any wire. This increases throughput when printing graphics.
