Dot Array Impact Line Printer

The dot array impact line printer shown in the figure uses multiple actuators in shared airgaps to provide a full line printing for very high speed matrix line printers. One actuator per dot resolution is achieved by using very thin moving coils as print actuators and locating groups of such coils in the same airgap to reduce the actuator pitch to the coil thickness.
