An envelope deposit drop device provides a means for transporting a deposit envelope from a depository printer to a safe. Typically, a deposited envelope must travel from a printer orientation of about 25 degrees from horizontal to a safe orientation of about 90 degrees from horizontal. The drop device of the present invention provides for this change in orientation without requiring the envelope to be bent around a corner.
