mouse buttons improves user friendliness and permits convenient modification.
The technique allows users to request a display of the attached keyboard and
mouse and the functions assigned to the various key combinations. The function
assignments are displayed in a list which points the function to the key location
and key sequences. The list also contains functions which are not mapped to the
keyboard and mouse. The user can subsequently manipulate the list and
reassign functions to other keys and buttons.
The benefits to the end user are a visual presentation of the keyboard keys
mapped to assigned functions and a graphic direct manipulation technique to
reassign function to keys. Other benefits are a technique to facilitate learning the
valid key assignments, quicker learning and increased productivity by learning
