This article describes a method for using a single command interface in a window-based environment. Window-based environments are popular in multi-tasking operating systems as they provide the end user a 'window' into each running application. The end user can run any application by interacting directly with its window. However, through the use of the described command interface, an end user can operate the running applications from a single command line.
