Heretofore, most rf open field measurements that covered a broad frequency spectrum had to be made manually with much care due to the presence of rf signals in the environment from such sources as radio and television stations, automobile ignition noises, two-way radio signals, etc. It is not so much the strength of these interfering stray signals, but their intermittent effect on attempts to obtain rf signal measurements, that produces a disruptive influence.
