Closed Loop Optimal Tandem Burnish/Glide Process With Variable Load

The closed loop optimal tandem burnish/glide process for magnetic storage disks and devices consists of a single head to do both procedures using a suitable flying height adjustment device and a motion or contact detection transducer used during both procedures. A single-pass closed loop burnish process is followed by a glide qualification test. The number of head passes over the disk surface is kept to a minimum, optimizing overall process time.
