This invention describes a multi-disk robotic tool 4 which reduces cycle time
and eliminates handling damage. (See Fig. 1)
The robot inserts the transfer tool arm 5 through the central openings of a
group of disks 7. The robot then simultaneously picks up the disks and transfers
them into a shipping container. By picking the disks up only on the inner
diameter edge, there is no danger of damaging the disks during the transfer.
While the disks are being transferred, the disk-holding grooves 6 keep the disks
firmly in place, eliminating any opportunity for adjoining disk surfaces to contact
