An installation tool is described which provides a fast method of installing and straightening jumpers on printed circuit cards. Jumpers 10, as shown in Fig. 1, are U-shaped metal components which are required to be securely inserted into printed circuit board pins 11. The jumper installation tool, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, consists of feeder 12, which holds jumpers 10 awaiting assembly. Channel guide 13 is used to guide jumpers 10 onto circuit board pins 11 when plunger 14 is actuated. Jumper pins 15 are straightened prior to insertion by pin straightener 16. Pin straightening occurs when plunger 14 is in the uppermost position. As plunger 14 is depressed, pin straightener 16 is pivoted at 17, through cam action, so as to be in a clear position during the insertion operation.
