Shadow Application Program

The Shadow Application Program disclosed herein allows users to experiment with various alternate user-designed application program flows without affecting the basic or primary application program being utilized. In application programs where the definition of each application (called a primary application) is saved in a repository data base, a "shadow" application can be implemented. This is an arena for experimentation and practice where neither the system nor users are on trial. The "shadow" application answers the "what would happen if" questions regarding a particular system. As shown in Fig. 1, the shadow application has the same data retrieval and processing capabilities as its associated primary application, except for update of the data on a data base.
