Abstract

A tool is provided which facilitates the extraction of electrical circuit modules from a socket in which they are mounted. As shown in the drawing, a base member 11 slides over the module 12 to be removed and rests on the card (not shown). A middle part 14 of the tool slides up into the top portion 15 of the tool and is used for alignment in the Y axis. This assembly is then slipped over module 12 by way of the milled slots 15a in upper member 15. By turning thumbscrew 16, pressure is applied directly to base 11 and this force is distributed equally across the base. Turning thumbscrew 16 causes top 15 to move up the threads on the shaft of thumbscrew 16, bringing module 12 with it and removing it from the socket. At all times during removal, module 12 is kept perpendicular to the X, Y, and Z axes.
