Abstract

Two parts are joined together by a T-shaped tab formed on one part that extends through a slotted opening in the other part and is twisted to make a positive interference connection. The surfaces adjoining the slotted opening are inclined to provide a continuing wedging action as the tab is twisted in engagement therewith. As seen in Fig. 1, the T-shaped tab 5 is formed as a portion of the sheet metal component 6. A second component 8 has a slotted opening 9 with inclined surfaces 10 adjoining the longer side of the slots. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the lower flange surfaces 12 of tab 5 engage the inclined surfaces 10 as the tab is twisted after being inserted through opening 9.
