File Transfer Functions for IBM Personal Computer Network

A method is described to provide 3270 Personal Computer (PC) File Transfer-type functions on the IBM PC Network without requiring a DOS partition. The IBM PC Network SNA 3270 Emulation Program is a program product which emulates a 3274 Control Unit, 3278/3279 Display and 3287 Printer. It also provides the capability of a second partition in which to run programs on DOS. The product allows numerous configurations and increments of function depending on the operator-selected options and the available memory. The 3270 PC requires a DOS partition. In order to implement the 3270 PC File Transfer-type function without incurring the additional memory requirements of a DOS partition. The IBM Network SNA 3270 Emulation Program provides a Request Menu which is the operator interface for many local functions.
