For pulse-position-modulated, optically recorded data this circuit eliminates bias buildup or offsets from whatever source and provides tracking threshold detection. An accurately derived threshold signal is subsequently used to gat a signal derived from the derivative of the input signal indicative of the input signal peak. In this manner, the threshold gate provides isolation from false output due to signal baseline noise, and maintains accurate data timing for outputs over widely varying signal amplitude conditions (for instance, due to envelope dropouts).
