A method of feeding flexible parts of constant cross-sectional area (wires, ribbons, tapes, etc.) in repeatable linear steps is accomplished in a device that uses air pressure to safeguard fragile parts. For the purpose of illustrating how the mechanism works, Fig. 1 shows an exploded view of stepper plate 1 and actuator plate 2. Positioned between the plates is a wire, shown in three positions A, B and C, for the purpose of illustrating how the mechanism works. Surfaces 3 and 4 are shown separated. In the assembled, working position surfaces 3 and 4 are engaged. The procedure begins as in position A where the wire appears as a straight wire and is placed in wire guide track 5. The wire is secured in position A by clamping surface 6, when air flows from air valve 7 (Fig.
