A printer control system includes an arrangement for starting up the paper feed mechanism before the preceding printing operation is completed in order to take account of the time delay between the instant of energizing the paper feed motor and the instant of the start of paper movement. Many printers print a line of characters while the paper is stationary and, when the printing of the line of characters has been completed, feed the paper until the portion of the paper on which the next line of characters is to be printed is positioned in the print mechanism. The paper feed mechanism includes an electric paper feed motor. Due to the construction of the feed mechanism, there is an inherent time delay between the instant of energizing the motor and the instant when the paper movement starts.
