Insulated Pin for Printed Circuit Cards With Feed-Through Holes

This article describes a pin having a compression sleeve insulator for use in modifying printed circuit card assemblies having input/output pins electrically embedded in the printed circuit card. A typical modification using the pin with compression-fitted insulating sleeve could be in replacing one of the conducting pins embedded in a plated- through hole on the printed circuit card. Fig. 1 shows pin 10 having insulated sleeve 11 provided with a compression portion 15. Shown also is a standard pin 12 having a feed- through hole portion 13 provided with a compliant section 16. The pin size 14 for insulated pin 10 is equivalent to the standard pin 12 and is sized according to the the hole size provided on the printed circuit board.
