Abstract

This article describes and input/output adapter (IOA) bus skew/error inject card which is controlled by an IEEE-488 bus and a personal computer (PC). During the testing of both input/output processors (IOPs) and input/output adapters (IOAs) on the IOA bus of a processing system, a device is needed to skew information and inject errors in a realtime environment. This means that information traveling over the IOA bus needs to be delayed or altered in a manner which can remain unseen by the test case which is presently being run. To accomplish this, an IOA bus skew/error inject card controlled by an IEEE-488 bus and a PC was designed as disclosed herein. The IOA skew/error inject card is shown in block diagram in Fig. 1.
