Abstract

This technique provides continuous speech recognition by two-level DP matching which is adaptable to variation of the utterance speed of a speaker. This technique is as follows. 1. Assumption Each input pattern is composed of several reference patterns, and the number of references for one input is unknown, such as the recognition of connected digits with an unknown number of digits. 2. Procedures (1) Pre-processing stage (i) A conventional two-level DP-matching method [*] is applied to input data. (ii) The following two results (Fig. 1) are stored. Case (A) : Total accumulated distance "D1" is the smallest with the number of digits "n1". Case (B) : Total accumulated distance "D2" is the second smallest with the number of digits "n2". (Here, n1/n2.
