A Dispersive Fourier Transform Spectrometer (DFTS) is shown in the figure. The optical arrangement includes a 60Œ Michelson interferometer 10 with the sample 12 acting as the "mirror" of the fixed arm of the interferometer. The interferometer is laser referenced using an He-Ne laser 14 and a silicon-diode detector 16. The IR source 18 is focused onto a variable aperture 20 and collimated by mirror 22. The beamsplitter 30 splits the IR beam provided by the IR source 18 into two paths. A first path reflects the radiation onto the sample 12. The exit beam from the sample in the interferometer is focused, by mirrors 24 and 26, onto a pyroelectric detector 28. A second path reflects the IR beam off of the phase angle mirror 32 and onto the movable mirror 34.
