Abstract

The closing pressure between mating contacts of a circuit card - circuit board combination in a zero insertion force arrangement can be measured by substituting a piezoelectric crystal as a force transducer for one of the contacts. The change in pressure on the piezoelectric crystal before and after contact closure is translated into a change in resonant frequency of the crystal.
