A mounting clamp firmly attaches and locates the read/write head assemblies to a head bar without the expense of using bonding or screws. The mounting clamp uses a tapered rectangular sleeve and pin to firmly hold and locate one or two read/write head assemblies on the head bar. A tapered rectangular sleeve 1 is pl over the head bar 2, and the read/write head assembly or assemblies 3 are slipped into the tapered rectangular sleeve 1. read/write head assembly 3 is located against the back of the head bar and between the sides of the tapered sleeve. A pin 4 is then pressed into the opening between the read/write head assembly mounting block or the head bar and the side of the tap sleeve. Pressing the pin into the assembly tends to push the read/write head assembly locating pads tighter against the back of the head bar.
