Hard file testers and servo writers are required to load and unload heads onto and off the hard file disk without "dinging" the disk surfaces through head contact. This must be done with hardware that does not disrupt the dynamics of the head suspension assembly while it is flying. With increased track density, future efforts in sector servo writing demand that all the surfaces of the disk be written simultaneously to keep servo writing time and product cost down. However, hard file products with multiple disk surfaces must have the ability to switch from a track on one disk surface to a track on another without having to do a seek operation.
