Flexible Guide for Printed Circuit Cards
Original Publication Date: 1986-Oct-01
Included in the Prior Art Database: 2005-Mar-09
This article describes a flexible guide to hold the ends of printed circuit cards in a machine. This guide is configured so that when one or more cards are inserted into it, the guide itself is deflected to grip the end(s) of the card(s) to provide retention despite variations in the dimensional tolerances affecting the position of the end(s) of the card(s) relative to the machine framework. In particular, the card guide is mounted to the framework by self-locking pins which are angled to pivot the card guide toward the ends of the cards. An associated surface on a detachable plate is provided to restrain the motion of the card guide away from the ends of the cards. Additionally, the card guide is configured to mount a speaker near the front of the machine.
