By displaying in the Command Bar the available commands for a grouping of related or unrelated files, the user can act upon the related files by issuing a single command, or view those commands available when differing file-types have been selected. In the FILES application of a UNIX* environment, a user may want to select a number of files to be acted upon by issuing a single command. Unfortunately, not all commands apply to all types of files, with the FILES application only being capable of displaying, on the command bar, those commands which are valid for the file(s) which have been selected.
