Abstract

The present algorithm is directed to the problem of correction of the segmentation of signatures for the case where the reference and sample signature have the same number of, but poorly matched, segments. A good signature verification algorithm must first detect and then reconcile the segments in the sample and reference signatures. If this is not done, then it is impossible to get an accurate measure of the degree of correlation of the two signatures. This process is made difficult by the variability of the signers. People are not perfectly consistent when they lift the pen from the paper. Also, our technique of detecting pen lifts is not perfect.
