Safety Protector: 40-Pin Integrated Circuit
Original Publication Date: 1985-Jan-01

This article concerns a protective device made of flame-extinguishing insulating material, such as aramid-polyimide impregnated flame-extinguishing insulating material. The protective device 10, as shown in the drawing, is first stamped out in strips, then folded at designated sections. It is then positioned so as to form a box to completely encircle 40-pin integrated circuit devices 11, which have outside-case operating temperatures exceeding safety limits for a customer access area. The protective device 10 prevents contact with the high temperature integrated circuit.
