When a single gas strut is used as part of a lift and swivel device for a CRT display, the gas strut must be offset with respect to the display housing in order to miss the CRT neck hardware. As described, a base unit carries a wheel for rotation supporting the offset gas strut. The part of the gas strut below the display box is hidden by an oval bellows to give the appearance of a central lift mechanism. Figs. 1 and 2 illustrate the front and side appearance of a CRT display housing 1 mounted on a swivel and lift platform 2. A square base 3 remains stationary upon a desk, while display housing 1 may be lifted by means of gas strut 4. As a single gas strut 4 is used, this must be offset with respect to display box 1 to miss the CRT neck hardware.
