Abstract

The purpose of this system is to provide an automatic correction of microphone distortion in digital equipment since the systems of the prior art are too complex and expensive. A path from one telephone set to another telephone set represents a long analog path between the front end and the back end of a digital network which usually introduces errors. For instance, the source telephone set is imperfect since while some use a dynamic microphone, many others use a carbon microphone for cost reasons. Also, the lines introduce distortion as harmonic or frequency distortions sometimes compensated in the line amplifiers of the public network, and nonharmonic distortion due to non-linearities of the various amplifiers and compounders in use.
